In 1972 the racing department of DAF Cars in Eindhoven in The Netherlands aquired Huron 4A chassis #2, and converted the Hewland manual gearbox to a Variomatic ( the pre-cursor of the modern CVT transmission ). Policy of DAF was at that time to promote the Variomatic transmission by sporty and racing achievement. The Cosworth engine and all the other parts of the car were retained. Subsequently the car was for the whole season in 1972 deployed in Hillclimb championships in Belgium, belgian driver Jean Louis Haxhe. By the end of 1972 the car was retired by DAF and it was sold on. However sponsor Reynolds ( aka Camel ) stayed loyal to the DAF team and sponsored the whole year round in 1972. Most likely this is the only modelcar in 1:43rd scale in which the innovative Variomatic transmission is clearly visible in detail. We will only produce 100 off of this model, so be quick, or be sold out.... This model will be available in April 2026, so that is why it is listed "out of stock" but you can send us an email or message with your pre-order.
