It came to our attention that a few weeks ago modelcar shop Car.Tima of Gemany released the 1:43 Porsche 989 in silver metallic as well. This model is produced for them by AutoCult from Germany, manufactured in China. A kind of pity that there are two 1:43 989 models on the market now, though in details both models are a bit different.

Our model was already released in July 2018 and happily we have sold almost 50 models in silver metallic since then. I will not comment on the shape of the AutoCult model but it is interesting to see that Dutch NAMAC "Auto in Miniatuur" included a brief article on the AutoCult model on their news pages of the website. Remarkable to read that they commented on the shape of this model "wether AutoCult succeeded in this I doubt that  by the way, the proportions seem a bit weird. We saw the model at Carmodel". Personally I think the 989 by Autocult is not so bad at all, it is just what the viewer sees in it.

So OK, I will not further comment on the shape of the AutoCult model, the only thing I could say that the frontbumper seems a bit too stretched, but that could have to do with the fact of fitting the indicator lights, which are very small indeed. We encountered that problem as well.......there is only very little space between the headlights and the indicator lights available.

So I will leave the rest of the comparison to the customers, who will decide which 989 appeals more to them, buy our model or that from the competitor, or both ;-) The AutoCult 989 retails at about € 100 - 110 ( limited to 333 off ), our model is slightly more expensive but we will do only 100 models, individually numbered.

Now what is our answer to the silver metallic model by AutoCult : we already knew years ago that besides a row of metallic silver 989's Porsche made one 989 in dark blue metallic. It seems that all silver metallic cars were only mock-ups and that only one silver 989 was movable on it's own wheels, but had no basic mechanics. That is the car modelled by AutoCult and us. But there was one metallic blue car made as well.....interesting fact because rumour has it that this blue car was fully functional and was extensively used for road-testing. There are even some "secret" pictures of this car tested on the track. Moreover Porsche did release a picture showing a row of three silver 989 prototype mock-ups and in the background the blue 989 is clearly visible. We have this picture in our archive, even in the far background a Lexus LS400 is visible so that means that the picture was made after september 1989. Probably Porsche purchased an LS400 to inspect its high built quality ?

Anyway, we considered doing the blue 989 as well should the occasion arise and that happened a bit sooner than expected, so from now on the blue 989 is directly available from us. The blue model has the original O.Z. Design 90 wheels which were used on the 928 as well. The model is for sale in our gallery right now. As said we did already almost 50 silver models, so we will only do a maximum of 50 blue models starting with number 51. So in total we will not exceed our production of 100 models, that can be assured. Thank you for your attention and enjoy the summer while it lasts.
